Benefits

Students who wish to enroll in U-SHIP may choose one of two plan options. The benefits are identical except for the level of prescription drug coverage:

Basic Coverage

Basic coverage features a $200 annual deductible, a $1,500 out-of-pocket maximum, and covers 90% for Preferred Care, and 60% for Non-Preferred Care for most covered services. There is no pre-existing condition clause for this plan. Prescription drugs are covered up to a maximum of $1,500 per policy year, after payment of a $25 copay for each brand name prescription or a $10 copay for each generic prescription. The plan features coverage for outpatient mental health visits up to 25 visits per year, with no lifetime maximum. Click here to view additional benefits. See the 2009-10 U-SHIP Policy Brochure for complete details.

Basic coverage is the only plan option available to Seminary students, and to dependent spouses, same-sex domestic partners, and children.

Eligible students who do not elect or waive enrollment during the enrollment period will be automatically enrolled in U-SHIP Basic coverage.

Prescription Advantage Coverage

Prescription advantage coverage features a $200 annual deductible, a $1,500 out-of-pocket maximum, and 90% coverage for Preferred Care, and 60% for Non-Preferred Care for most covered services.
