University Student Health Insurance Plan (U-SHIP)
Continuation of Coverage
Students who will not be enrolled at the University in Fall Quarter 2008, but who were enrolled in the SASI plan in 2007-08 are eligible for continuation coverage which begins September 1st. Continuation coverage will be available directly through our new insurance carrier UnitedHealthcare StudentResources. Premiums for the continuation coverage must be received within 31 days of the termination date of coverage under the Aetna SASI plan (August 31st). Students (and dependents currently enrolled in SASI) pay per month for up to 12 months. As an example, if a student purchases 4 months of continuation coverage, that student may renew up to 8 more months. If a student finds a job that pays for health insurance, the student can cancel continuation coverage, however there is no premium refund.
The monthly premiums are as follows:
Basic Student: $226
Basic Student + 1 dep: $623
Basic Student + 2 or more dep: $970
Prescription Advantage Student: $347 (available only to students who were on the Advantage SASI coverage in 2007-08)
