There are many resources here at the University of Chicago to keep students healthy and safe. We encourage you to take a look at all of the information below, so that you know what is available if you are ever in need of it. Dean-on-call, Sexual Assault Dean-on-call
The University has two Dean-on-Call programs: the Dean-on-Call, and the Sexual Assault Dean-on-Call. Both Deans are available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. SCRS Staff Member on call
The Student Counseling and Resource Service (SCRS) operates two distinct services, one during the office hours of 8:30am -5:00pm, and another after hours. During office hours, students who feel that they need to talk with someone urgently may call the front desk at the SCRS (773-702-9800) or may walk into the SCRS building at 5737 S. University Ave. After hours, students who need to speak with someone urgently may call 773-702-3625 to speak with the SCRS Staff Member on call. SCC Physician on call
The Student Care Center (SCC) Physician on call can be contacted, as needed, by calling the Nurseline. The Nurseline is available to all students after hours at 773-702-1915. The nurses will be able to give you advice about managing your symptoms/illness and will screen for more serious concerns and contact the Physican on call when necessary.

Injured Student transportation/resources
Students with temporary disability due to injury or illness are encouraged to contact Assistant Dean of Students in the University Belinda Cortez Vazquez at (773) 834-9710, or belinda@uchicago.edu.
If the injury makes it difficult for the student to maneuver about the campus, the student may be placed on the Injured Student Transportation List with the University Police. Ratner/Fit Chicago
The University has two gyms on campus. Ratner Athletic Center is at the corner of 55th and Ellis, and the Henry Crown Field House is a block away at 56th and Univeristy. Information about facilities and hours of operation can be found at http://athletics.uchicago.edu/facilities/ratnercenter.htm
The FitChicago Program provides group fitness classes, Fitness Center orientation sessions, and personal training services for Ratner Center members. Drop-in fitness classes are currently offered to members of Ratner in beginning yoga, intermediate yoga, Pilates, muscle toning, cardio kickboxing, water aerobics, adult learn-to-swim, NIA (neuromuscular integrative action), tango for fitness, step aerobics, and other classes. A Fitness Punch Card (1 class-$5; 5 classes-$23; 10 classes-$40) must be purchased at the Ratner Center front desk to participate in these classes. Fitness Center orientation sessions are offered on a regular basis for no charge to current members of Ratner and Henry Crown. These one-hour sessions offered each quarter cover the safe and effective use of the fitness equipment and machines. Personal fitness training services are also available. A certified personal trainer will help clients achieve their fitness goals by evaluating their current fitness levels and designing comprehensive exercise programs to meet their needs. Fitness assessments, one-on-one sessions, small group instruction, and mini-classes are available.

Workshops at SCRS: ASAP & Stress/Time Management
ASAP assists students with improving academic performance through assessment, counseling and referral. ASAP addresses a range of study skills including time management, reading comprehension, test taking, and note-taking. Regarding writing issues, the college provides writing tutors for undergraduates. ASAP helps graduate students with issues of organization and style. ASAP also provides assessment and coaching for ADD/ADHD and LD. ASAP is housed in the Student Counseling and Resource Service (SCRS) at 5737 South University Avenue. Individual appointments can be made with an educational therapist by calling (773) 702-9800. We are available Monday - Friday: 8:30am - 5:00pm.

Peer Health Educators
PHEs are a select group of U Chicago students who work on behalf of the SCC to promote awareness and advocacy for health among University of Chicago students. PHEs are willing to speak on a variety of health issues including: stress, alcohol, healthy relationships, nutrition, contraception, fitness and other topics by request. As PHEs, we confront health misperceptions on campus, offer factual health information, and serve as peer resources to students seeking campus health services. http://scc.uchicago.edu/health_101_phe.html

Let's talk at SCRS
"Let's Talk" is a program that provides easy access to informal and confidential consultations with counselors from the Student Counseling & Resource Service. There are two "Let's Talk" sites (International House and the new OMSA building at 5710 S. Woodlawn). There is no appointment or fee necessary.
